The Kelpies
The Kelpies are two huge, striking horse-head sculptures located in Falkirk, Scotland, standing 30 meters tall. Designed by artist Andy Scott, they represent the mythological shape-shifting water spirits known as kelpies from Scottish folklore, symbolizing the strength and resilience of horse-powered industry in the region’s history. Made from over 300 steel plates, the sculptures are a tribute to the working horses that pulled heavy loads and helped develop Scotland’s industrial past. The Kelpies serve as both public art and a cultural landmark, attracting visitors and encouraging appreciation of Scotland’s industrial heritage.
