The Kapenguria Six
The Kapenguria Six were a group of Kenyan leaders, including Jomo Kenyatta, who faced trial in 1952 during British colonial rule. They were accused of organizing the Mau Mau uprising, a fierce rebellion against colonial authority. The trial took place in Kapenguria, and the six leaders were detained for several years. Although many believed they were innocent and targeted for their leadership in Kenya's independence movement, the British used the trial to weaken resistance. Their imprisonment highlighted the struggle for independence, and Kenyatta later became Kenya’s first president after the country gained independence in 1963.
