The Kalahari Desert

The Kalahari Desert is a semi-arid region in Southern Africa, covering parts of Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. Unlike typical deserts, it has more vegetation and seasonal rains, supporting wildlife like lions, elephants, and oryx. Its landscape includes sandy dunes, grasslands, and dry riverbeds. The desert is home to unique ecosystems and indigenous peoples, such as the Bushmen, who have adapted to its challenging conditions. Despite its name, it is not a true desert because it receives more rainfall than a classic desert, allowing a variety of plant and animal life to thrive.
