The Joiner Model
The Joiner Model is a legal concept used to determine who is responsible when a person is injured or harmed after a product is sold. It considers the actions of everyone involved in making the product—such as designers, manufacturers, and suppliers—as part of a chain. If a defect causes injury, the model helps identify whether any link in this chain was negligent or responsible for the defect that led to harm. Essentially, it focuses on the collective process of product creation, rather than just the final seller, to assign liability fairly.
