The Jarrow March
The Jarrow March was a protest that took place in 1936 in England, where around 200 unemployed workers from the town of Jarrow walked 300 miles to London. They were protesting the devastating closure of their local shipbuilding industry, which caused widespread unemployment and hardship. The march aimed to draw government attention to their plight and demand economic support and job creation. Although it did not result in immediate policy changes, it became a powerful symbol of suffering caused by economic decline and government neglect during the Great Depression era.
