The invention of color television
The invention of color television involved developing technology to transmit images in multiple colors, creating a realistic viewing experience. Early TV systems displayed black-and-white images by sending variations in light intensity. To add color, engineers combined red, green, and blue signals—known as primary colors—whose different mixes produce all other colors. This required specialized cameras, broadcast equipment, and screens capable of displaying these colors accurately. In the 1950s, color TV became commercially available, transforming broadcasts by providing richer, more lifelike images that enhanced entertainment, news, and education. The innovation was a significant step in visual communication technology.
