The Interregnum
The Interregnum is a period between reigning leaders, such as monarchs or presidents, when the new leader has not yet been appointed or has not taken office. It occurs naturally during transitions of power, often due to elections, appointments, or political changes. During this time, there may be a need for temporary governance or a period of uncertainty. Historically, the term is also associated with specific periods in British history, like the English Interregnum (1649–1660), when the monarchy was abolished and England was governed without a king.
