The International Campaign to Ban Landmines

The International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) is a coalition of organizations working globally to remove landmines and prevent their use. Landmines are explosive devices buried underground, often left after conflicts, that pose long-term dangers to civilians, hindering safety, development, and recovery. Established in 1992, the ICBL advocates for international laws, promotes mine clearance, and supports affected communities. Their efforts aim to eliminate the global threat of landmines, ensuring safer environments and protecting lives, especially in regions impacted by war. The campaign played a key role in the creation of the Mine Ban Treaty of 1997.
