The Integers

Integers are numbers that include positive numbers, negative numbers, and zero. They do not have fractional or decimal parts. Think of integers as counting numbers (1, 2, 3, ...) along with their negatives (-1, -2, -3, ...) and zero. They’re used to represent quantities that can go above or below a starting point, like temperatures above or below zero, or a bank account with debt or credit. Integers form a set that extends infinitely in both the positive and negative directions, providing a fundamental building block in mathematics for counting, ordering, and measuring.
