The Inner Critic
The Inner Critic is the internal voice that judges, criticizes, or doubts us, often focusing on our mistakes or shortcomings. It serves as a mental messenger influenced by past experiences and beliefs, shaping how we perceive ourselves and our actions. While it can motivate self-improvement, it can also create feelings of inadequacy or anxiety. Recognizing the Inner Critic allows us to challenge its negative messages, develop self-compassion, and foster healthier self-talk. Essentially, it’s the part of our mind that assesses and evaluates us—sometimes helping, but often hindering our confidence and well-being.
