The Immaculate Conception
The Immaculate Conception is a Catholic dogma that teaches Mary, the mother of Jesus, was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception. Unlike the common belief that only Jesus was free from sin, this doctrine holds that Mary was uniquely prepared by God's grace to be a pure and holy vessel for Jesus’ birth. This special grace was granted in anticipation of the role she would play in salvation history. It does not mean she was conceived without human parents but that she was specially sanctified from her very beginning.
