The Imagination Club

The Imagination Club was a pioneering feminist organization founded in the 1970s by women of color, primarily Black women, in New York City. It aimed to create a space for women to express their creativity, share experiences, and challenge societal norms that marginalized their identities. The club emphasized the importance of imagining and envisioning new possibilities for women of color, fostering community and empowerment through art, discussions, and collective action. It played a significant role in early feminist and racial justice movements by highlighting intersectional perspectives often overlooked in mainstream feminism.
