The Hyksos
The Hyksos were a group of people of mixed origins, likely from the Levant, who invaded and took control of Egypt around 1650 BCE during the Second Intermediate Period. They brought advanced technologies such as horse-drawn chariots and new weapons, which transformed Egyptian warfare. Their rule lasted for about a century, during which they ruled from a capital at Avaris. The Hyksos eventually were driven out by native Egyptian rulers, leading to the New Kingdom period, a time of renewed strength and expansion for Egypt. Their presence marked a significant cultural and technological influence during their time in Egypt.
