The Hand of God Goal
The "Hand of God" goal refers to a famous event during the 1986 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal between Argentina and England. Argentine player Diego Maradona scored by using his left hand to direct the ball into the net, which was against the rules since hands are not allowed to touch the ball during play. The referee did not see the handball, so the goal was allowed to stand. Maradona later called it "a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God," making it a symbol of cunning and controversy in sports history.
