The Grunig Model
The Grunig Model describes different ways organizations communicate with the public. It outlines four types: 1. **Press Agentry** – trying to get media attention and publicity, often one-way. 2. **Public Information** – sharing factual information honestly, mainly one-way. 3. **Two-way Asymmetric** – listening and using feedback to influence public opinion but primarily for organizational benefit. 4. **Two-way Symmetric** – open dialogue where both the organization and public influence each other, aiming for mutual understanding. This model helps organizations choose appropriate communication strategies based on their goals and relationships with the public.
