The Green Cross Code
The Green Cross Code is a set of guidelines designed to promote safe pedestrian behavior when crossing roads. It emphasizes five key steps: first, find a safe place to cross; second, stop and look in both directions for oncoming traffic; third, listen for sounds of traffic; fourth, when it’s clear, walk straight across without running; and fifth, keep looking and listening until you have fully crossed. This code aims to reduce accidents and enhance road safety for everyone, particularly children and vulnerable pedestrians, by encouraging mindfulness and caution around traffic.
