The Great Attractor
The Great Attractor is a massive, mysterious region in space exerting a strong gravitational pull on galaxies, including our own Milky Way. Located roughly 250 million light-years away in the direction of the constellation Centaurus, it influences the motion of nearby galaxies, drawing them toward it. Despite its significant gravitational influence, the exact nature of the Great Attractor remains unclear because dense cosmic dust and gas obscure our view, preventing clear observation. It is thought to be part of a larger structure called the Laniakea Supercluster, of which our galaxy is a member.
