"The God Particle"

"The God Particle" is a nickname for the Higgs boson, a fundamental particle in physics. It helps explain why other particles, like electrons and quarks, have mass. Discovered in 2012 at CERN, the Higgs boson arises from the Higgs field—a pervasive energy field that interacts with particles. When particles pass through this field, they acquire mass, much like objects gain weight from gravity. The discovery confirmed a key part of the Standard Model, our best framework for understanding how particles and forces create the universe's fundamental structure.
