The Globe Theatre (London)

The Globe Theatre in London was a famous playhouse built in 1599, closely associated with William Shakespeare. It was a large, open-air amphitheater where many of Shakespeare’s plays were performed. The theater could hold around 3,000 spectators and had an innovative design, including a central stage that extended into the audience. It was built with timber and traditional materials, and its lively atmosphere reflected the vibrant culture of Elizabethan London. Although it was destroyed by fire in 1613 and rebuilt shortly after, the Globe remains a symbol of Shakespearean drama and theatrical history. Today, a modern reconstruction stands near the original site.
