The Global Workspace Theory
The Global Workspace Theory suggests that our brain functions like a theater, with many specialized processes (like perception, memory, and attention) operating in the background. When information reaches a "global workspace," it becomes conscious and available for decision-making, communication, and reasoning across different brain areas. This "workspace" acts as a central hub where relevant information is broadcast, enabling us to consciously experience thoughts and respond flexibly to our environment. Essentially, it explains how various subconscious processes integrate to create our unified conscious experience.
