The Gettier Cases

Gettier cases are scenarios that challenge the traditional idea of knowledge as "justified true belief." They show that having a belief that is both true and well-supported by evidence may still not qualify as genuine knowledge if, by luck, the belief coincides with reality. For example, someone might believe a person owns a car because they saw the car in the driveway, which is true, and they have good reasons to believe it. However, it turns out the person was borrowing the car temporarily, so the belief's truth was accidental. These cases highlight that additional factors are needed to truly define knowledge.
