The Frailty Phenotype
The Frailty Phenotype is a way to identify older adults who are more vulnerable to health problems and declines in their ability to function. It looks at five key signs: unintentional weight loss, weakness (like grip strength), exhaustion, slow walking speed, and low physical activity. If someone shows several of these signs, they may be considered frail, meaning they're at higher risk for falls, hospitalizations, and other complications. Recognizing frailty helps healthcare providers create tailored plans to improve strength, endurance, and overall health.
