The Four Modernizations

The Four Modernizations were a set of goals introduced in China in the late 20th century aimed at improving four key areas: agriculture, industry, defense, and science/technology. The plan focused on updating farming techniques, promoting industrial growth, strengthening national defense, and advancing science and innovation. The goal was to modernize China’s economy and infrastructure to compete globally, improve living standards, and create a more prosperous and self-reliant nation. These reforms marked a shift from strict communist policies to a more open approach that encouraged modernization and development.
