The Foster Care System

The foster care system provides temporary housing and support for children who cannot live with their families due to safety concerns, neglect, or abuse. When a child's guardians are unable to care for them, child welfare agencies step in to place the child in a foster home, with relatives, or in residential programs. The goal is to ensure the child's safety, provide stability, and work towards reunification with their family or permanent alternatives like adoption. Foster care is meant to offer a nurturing environment while addressing the child's needs and circumstances.
