"The Floating Piers" (Christo and Jeanne-Claude)
"The Floating Piers" was an art installation by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, created in 2016 on Italy’s Lake Iseo. It consisted of massive, orange fabric-covered walkways that floated on the water, allowing visitors to walk across the lake’s surface and explore the surrounding islands. The structure was made of lightweight materials and integrated seamlessly into the landscape, offering an immersive experience. The installation lasted for 16 days, highlighting themes of transformation and permeability between land and water. It was a temporary, large-scale environmental artwork that emphasized human interaction with nature and the ephemeral nature of art.
