The Flight or Fight Response

The fight-or-flight response is the body's automatic reaction to perceiving a threat. It triggers a surge of adrenaline and other stress hormones, increasing heart rate, blood flow, and energy supplies. This prepares you to either confront the danger or escape from it quickly. Essentially, it’s an evolved survival mechanism that sharpens your senses and boosts physical readiness, enabling effective responses to life-threatening situations. Once the threat passes, the body returns to normal, relaxing muscles and calming hormones. This response helps you react swiftly and effectively in emergencies, but can also activate in non-threatening situations under stress.
