The Fleming Fund
The Fleming Fund is an international initiative that supports low- and middle-income countries in improving their ability to detect, monitor, and respond to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which is when bacteria and other pathogens become resistant to medicines like antibiotics. Funded by the UK government and other partners, it provides financial resources, training, and infrastructure to strengthen laboratory systems. By doing so, it helps health systems better understand how resistance spreads, enabling more effective use of medicines and policies to combat this global health threat.
