The Five Points Gang
The Five Points Gang was a notorious early 20th-century Irish-American criminal organization based in New York City’s Five Points neighborhood. Active from the 1910s to the 1930s, it evolved from street gangs into a structured group involved in activities like gambling, theft, extortion, and murder. The gang gained notoriety for influencing organized crime and launching the careers of several famous mobsters, including Al Capone. Its influence waned with law enforcement crackdowns and changes in organized crime practices, but it remains a significant part of the history of American organized crime and urban street gangs.
