The First English Bible

The first complete English Bible is the Geneva Bible, published in 1560. It was significant because it was the first to be widely available in English for personal reading and study, featuring extensive commentary and study notes. Created by Protestant scholars, it was popular among early English Protestants and influenced later translations, including the King James Bible. Unlike previous versions that were in Latin or Greek, the Geneva Bible made the scriptures accessible to ordinary English speakers, shaping religious thought and practice during the Reformation era.
