The Felitti Study

The Felitti Study, conducted by Dr. Vincent Felitti, explored the link between childhood trauma and adult health issues. It found that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), such as abuse or neglect, significantly increase the risk of problems like heart disease, depression, and substance abuse later in life. The study showed that the more ACEs a person experienced, the higher their risk for these health issues, highlighting the importance of addressing early trauma to improve long-term well-being. It has helped shift understanding toward considering psychological and emotional history as key factors in physical health.
