The Faint

A faint occurs when the brain temporarily does not receive enough blood flow, leading to a brief loss of consciousness or dizziness. It often happens due to factors like dehydration, low blood pressure, sudden movements, or stress. During a faint, the body's automatic response causes blood vessels to dilate and blood pressure to drop, reducing blood flow to the brain. Most fainting episodes are harmless and resolve quickly when the person lies down, allowing blood to flow more easily to the brain. If fainting occurs repeatedly or without clear cause, medical evaluation is important.
