The Ethics of Identity
The Ethics of Identity explores questions about what makes us who we are, ethically and morally. It examines how our personal characteristics—such as race, gender, beliefs, or choices—shape our moral responsibilities and our treatment of others. It also considers how our understanding of our identity can influence fairness, authenticity, and respect. Essentially, it asks how our identity factors into moral questions and whether and how it should affect our rights and responsibilities, encouraging us to reflect on the relationship between who we are and how we should act ethically.
