The East Pacific Rise
The East Pacific Rise is an underwater mountain range in the eastern Pacific Ocean, formed where two tectonic plates—Pacific and Nazca—are slowly spreading apart. As the plates diverge, magma rises from beneath the Earth's crust, creating new ocean floor and shaping the ridge. This process results in a series of deep, rugged underwater mountains and volcanic activity along the ridge. The East Pacific Rise is an active and dynamic region, playing a key role in seafloor spreading and contributing to the geology of the Pacific Ocean.
