The Earth Observing-1 (EO-1)

Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) was a NASA satellite launched in 2000 to test advanced Earth imaging technologies. It provided detailed, multispectral images of the planet, helping scientists monitor environmental changes, urban growth, and natural disasters. EO-1 also tested innovative instruments, like the Hyperion sensor, which captures images across many wavelengths for comprehensive analysis. Its mission helped improve satellite imaging techniques and supported efforts in climate study, resource management, and disaster response. EO-1 operated for over 16 years before being decommissioned in 2017, significantly contributing to advancements in Earth observation technology.
