The Duff
"The Duff" is a novel by Kody Keplinger, and also a 2015 film adaptation. The story centers on Bianca Piper, a high school senior who perceives herself as the "Designated Ugly Fat Friend" (DUFF)—someone perceived as less attractive and used by peers for social purposes. When her classmate Wes offers to help her improve her image, Bianca begins to challenge her self-esteem and perspectives on friendship and worth. The narrative explores themes of self-acceptance, confidence, and the pressures of high school social hierarchies.
