The decompression illness

Decompression illness, often referred to as "the bends," occurs when a diver ascends too quickly after spending time at depths underwater. At deeper levels, the body absorbs more nitrogen from the air we breathe due to increased pressure. If a diver rises too fast, the sudden drop in pressure causes nitrogen to form bubbles in the body, leading to various symptoms such as joint pain, dizziness, and in severe cases, paralysis or death. Treatment typically involves recompression in a hyperbaric chamber, which helps dissolve the bubbles back into the bloodstream safely.
