The Curie Point

The Curie Point is the temperature at which a magnetic material, like iron, loses its permanent magnetic properties and becomes non-magnetic. Below this temperature, the material's atoms are aligned in a way that creates a magnetic field. When heated past the Curie Point, thermal energy causes the atoms' magnetic moments to become disordered, destroying the material's magnetism. This temperature varies depending on the material but is typically around 770°C for iron. The Curie Point is important in understanding and controlling magnetic and electronic properties of materials in technology and industry.
