the Council of Nicea

The Council of Nicaea, held in 325 AD, was a gathering of Christian leaders called by Emperor Constantine to address disagreements about Christian beliefs. The main issue was whether Jesus Christ was truly divine or just a special creation. The council decided that Jesus is fully divine and equal to God the Father, formulating what’s known as the Nicene Creed. This meeting helped unify Christian doctrine across the Roman Empire, establishing key beliefs that still influence Christianity today. It was an important step in shaping the church’s teachings and structure during early Christian history.
