The Council of Europe

The Council of Europe is an organization founded in 1949 to promote democracy, human rights, and the rule of law across European countries. It brings together 46 member states to collaborate on laws, policies, and standards that protect individual freedoms and ensure justice. The Council also operates the European Court of Human Rights, which hears cases related to human rights violations. Its goal is to foster cooperation and uphold common values among European nations to create a more just, democratic, and unified continent.
