The Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI)

The Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) is a regional effort among six countries—Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste—to protect the world's richest area of tropical coral reefs and marine biodiversity. The initiative focuses on sustainable management of fisheries, preservation of coral ecosystems, and reducing threats like overfishing, pollution, and climate change. By coordinating policies and sharing resources, CTI aims to ensure healthy oceans, support local communities' livelihoods, and maintain the ecological and economic benefits that these vibrant marine environments provide.
