The Consequence Argument

The Consequence Argument is a philosophical idea about free will and determinism. It suggests that if our actions are ultimately caused by prior events and natural laws, then we don’t have genuine control over what we do. In other words, since everything that happens is a result of past circumstances and the laws of nature, our choices are not truly "free" in the sense of being able to override these influences. This challenges the view that we can freely decide to do otherwise, emphasizing that our current actions are consequences of past causes beyond our control.
