The "Compression of Morbidity" Theory

The "Compression of Morbidity" theory suggests that if we improve healthcare, nutrition, and lifestyles, we can delay aging and reduce the time people spend feeling ill or disabled at the end of life. This means that instead of experiencing extended periods of illness, people's healthy years are concentrated into a shorter period before they pass away. Essentially, the goal is to "compress" the period of illness so that people enjoy longer, healthier lives with less suffering near the end.
