The Communist Party of Great Britain

The Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) was a political organization founded in 1920 that advocated for a socialist society based on Marxist principles. It aimed to promote workers’ rights, public ownership of key industries, and the abolition of capitalism. The CPGB sought to influence government policy and society through activism and participation in elections. Over time, its influence declined, especially after the Cold War, and it disbanded in 1991, with some members joining other socialist or left-wing groups. The party played a significant role in British left-wing politics during much of the 20th century.
