The Colossus of Rhodes
The Colossus of Rhodes was a towering bronze statue of the Greek sun god Helios, built around 280 BC to celebrate Rhodes' victory over invaders. Standing approximately 30 meters (98 feet) tall, it was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and symbolized strength and resilience. Positioned at the entrance of the harbor, it served as a colossal marker guiding ships safely into port. Although it stood for only about 54 years before being destroyed by an earthquake, its impressive size and craftsmanship left a lasting legacy as an engineering and artistic marvel.
