The Coldest Journey
The Coldest Journey was an expedition that took a team of explorers to Antarctica's geographic South Pole during the Antarctic winter (2013), when temperatures can drop below -80°C (-112°F). Their goal was to conduct scientific research and demonstrate human resilience in extreme cold. Traveling in specialized vehicles called “mobiles,” they faced brutal weather, limited daylight, and logistical challenges, all to gather vital climate data and test technologies. The journey showcased both scientific exploration and the human capacity to endure one of Earth's most extreme environments.
