the Codex Gigas

The Codex Gigas, also known as the "Devil's Bible," is a massive medieval manuscript from 13th-century Bohemia, famous for its size, weighing about 75 pounds and measuring over three feet long. It contains the Latin Bible, historical texts, medical knowledge, and other writings. Its nickname comes from a legendary story that a monk created it with the help of the Devil to avoid hard labor, reflected in its vivid illustrations. The manuscript is a remarkable example of medieval craftsmanship, blending religious, historical, and scholarly works, and is now housed in the National Library of Sweden.
