The Cloisonné Technique

The cloisonné technique is an ancient method of decorating metal objects by creating compartments, or "cloisons," with thin metal wires. These compartments are then filled with colorful enamel, a glass-like material. Once filled, the piece is fired at high temperatures, causing the enamel to melt and fuse into the compartments. After cooling, the surface is polished to reveal a smooth, vibrant, and detailed decorative object. This technique allows for intricate, colorful designs often seen in jewelry, vases, and art pieces, blending metalworking and glass art to produce durable and visually stunning items.
