The Clean Power Plan
The Clean Power Plan was a policy introduced by the U.S. government in 2015 to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, primarily those burning coal and natural gas. Its goal was to encourage utilities to shift to cleaner energy sources like wind, solar, and other renewables, helping to combat climate change. The plan set state-specific emission reduction targets and promoted energy efficiency. However, it faced legal challenges and was replaced in 2019 by subsequent regulations focused on maintaining air quality and reducing emissions in a different manner.
