The City as Ecosystem
The City as Ecosystem concept views urban areas as interconnected systems where humans, plants, animals, and the environment interact much like natural ecosystems. Just as in nature, cities rely on these relationships for resources, waste management, and biodiversity. Buildings, green spaces, transportation, and infrastructure form a network that supports community life, sustainability, and resilience. Recognizing these interconnections helps us design cities that are healthier, more sustainable, and better able to adapt to challenges, similar to how natural ecosystems thrive through balance and diversity.
