The Chukchi
The Chukchi are an indigenous Siberian people living in the Russian Far East, particularly in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Traditionally, they are semi-nomadic, relying on hunting, fishing, and reindeer herding for subsistence. Their culture is rich with storytelling, dance, and crafts, maintaining a deep connection to their Arctic environment. The Chukchi have their own language, Chukchi, which belongs to the Chukotic language family. They have historically interacted with neighboring indigenous groups and influenced by Russian expansion, while working to preserve their customs and way of life amidst modern influences.
